Nice to meet you!
My name is Kaitlyn McLaughlin
I am a dedicated music educator with a diverse background in classical training and international study. I began my musical journey at the age of 10 under the guidance of an exceptional classical instructor, building a strong technical foundation early on. I later expanded my training through study with multiple teachers in Spain, including both Spanish and American instructors, gaining a broader perspective on technique, style, and musical expression.
Continuing my education, I studied for two years at James Madison University, where I worked with an additional instructor who further shaped my approach to music and teaching. My experiences across different teaching styles and cultural perspectives have given me a well-rounded and adaptable approach to instruction.
Professionally, I spent two years teaching at a music school in Virginia Beach, where I worked with students of various ages and skill levels. During this time, I developed a passion for making music accessible, engaging, and personalized for each student.
I am currently completing my degree in Elementary Education, combining my love for music with a strong commitment to teaching and child development. My goal is to inspire students not only to grow as musicians, but also to build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for learning.

Why In-Home Private Lessons?
Choosing the right approach to music education matters. By offering one-on-one lessons in your home environment, I provide:
- Tailored, Uninterrupted Focus: Every session is customized to match your pace and learning style without the distractions of a busy commercial studio.
- Convenience for Busy Families: Enjoy professional instruction without the stress of extra commutes or waiting rooms.
- Comfort & Confidence: Students learn on their own instrument where they practice daily, helping them build natural confidence and better practice habits.
Lessons for Every Stage & Goal
I serve a diverse group of students—from brand-new beginners to advanced pianists and adults returning to the keys.
- Children & Teens: Young learners build healthy technique, note reading, rhythm, sight-reading, and strong practice habits through engaging weekly lessons.
- Adult Learners: Adults can study piano for personal enrichment, relaxation, or long-term musical development with flexible instruction shaped around their goals.
- Advanced Pianists: Focused repertoire development, refined technique, ear training, and deeper musicianship for students seeking serious classical study.
Learning More Than Just Songs
Throughout the year, students build a balanced repertoire spanning classical, contemporary, and foundational style periods. Technical study—including scales, arpeggios, hand position, tone production, sight reading, and effective practice strategies—is integrated directly into each lesson.
Progress Through Guidance & Care
Musical ability grows over time with patient instruction, clear expectations, and regular practice. The discipline, focus, and creativity developed through studying piano at home offer lifelong benefits well beyond the keyboard.
Whether your child is taking their very first step in music or you are ready to start playing again yourself, Coastal Keys Piano Studio is here to guide you with care, structure, and excellence.
